The Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, the star of the German team Borussia Dortmund, won the Golden Boy award for 2020, as the best player of the world.
The Italian newspaper "Toto Sport", which annually awards the award to the best player under the age of 21, said Haaland was the first Norwegian to win this coronation.
He also outperformed Bayern Munich defender Alfonso Davis, Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood and Barcelona winger Anso Fati.
This success comes for the young striker, after he scored 44 goals in all competitions throughout the 2019-2020 season.
The Norwegian scored 16 goals in just 18 games, after moving to Borussia Dortmund from Salzburg, Austria, last January.
This season, he scored 6 goals in the German League and 4 in the Champions League.
The newspaper stated that Barcelona striker Ansu Fati won the electronic golden boy award, after receiving the highest number of crowd votes, and he ranked second in the general ranking of the main award behind Haaland.
Milan midfielder Sandro Tonale won the Italian Golden Boy award, while he was ranked thirteenth in the overall standings.
