Gunfight in Libya’s eastern city of Benghazi
Our Sources from Benghazi said an armed group led by Faraj Egaiem (Anti-Immoral Phenomena Apparatus) was shot at Wednesday by gunmen in Al-Wahishi after Egaiem’s tribal group attempted to demolish road kiosks managed by the gunmen in the neighbourhood.
The source said Egaiem’s armed group withdrew from the area due to the heavy gunshots fired by the gunmen, adding that nobody was injured or killed.
Egaiem’s armed group clashed on Wednesday as well with another armed group in Buhadama in Benghazi with footage on social media showing the exchange of fire between the two groups.
Egaiem was appointed by Khalifa Haftar head of the Anti-Immoral Phenomena Apparatus after he was released from one of Haftar’s prisons, where he was kept for charges of forming an outlaw military group and receiving money from the “Government of National Accord.”
Egaiem was appointed by Fayez Al-Sarraj as a Deputy Interior Minister. He later declared war against globng.com/tag/Khalifa-Haftarafter he accused Haftar of trying to have him assassinated by a bomb car. He called on his Awaqir tribespeople to prepare for an attack on Rajma, where Haftar is based, to arrest him.
The tribespeople abandoned Egaiem and thus Haftar’s sons-led 106 Brigade attacked and detained him, then put him in jail. He was later pardoned by Haftar upon tribal mediations and thus appointed in a new position that has never existed before in Libya, by Haftar.
