Saudi Arabia to Witness a Rare Solar Eclipse that Repeated Only Every 300 Years
Saudi astronomer Dr Khaled al-Za’aq said that “the kingdom is witnessing a rare astronomical event, he said there will be “an annular eclipse of the sun next week.
He said on his official Twitter account that “annular eclipse is going to take place next week 21 June, he added that Gulf country will witness a partial eclipse of the sun except for southern Muscat, Oman, southern Saudi Arabia, and Yemen he Saudi astronomer explained with comprehensive explanation in a video clip about the types of eclipses to which the sun is exposed. They are three categories total, annular and partial eclipses”.
He pointed out that the annular eclipse is one of the very rare types of the eclipse of the sun because it will not be repeated in the region til after 86 years passed and it will not be repeated in the summer until after 300 years have passed.
Al-Za’aq emphasizes that the rest of the world will witness a partial eclipse of the sun on June 21, while for southern Pakistan, the Sultanate of Oman and south-eastern Saudi Arabia, there will be an annular eclipse at 7:20 minutes until 9.40 in the morning.
