The acting Chairman of the economic and financial crime commission, (EFCC) alh. Ibrahim Magu has been arrested by the department of state service (DSS).
Magu has been arrested for over an allegation that he owns four properties.
Similarly, DSS accused Magu of living in a N40m mansion paid by one Umar Muhammad, who is a retired air commodore.
All effort to talk to the EFCC spokesman neglected.
According to the DSS report, “Magu enlisted federal capital development authority to award a contract to Africa Energy, which is a company the same Muhammad,to furnish the house at cost of about N43m”.
“Furthermore Magu has so far maintain a higher profile life style.
This is exemplified by his preference for first class air travel. On 24 June 2016, he flew Emirates airlines first class to Saudi Arabia to perform a lesser hajj at the cost of N2.9m”.
“This in spite of Mr president directives to all public servants to fly economy class.
In one similar trips the report added that Magu flew to Maiduguri with a bank MD who was been investigated by (EFCC) over complicity in funds allegedly stolen by the immediate past petroleum minister, Diezina Alison Madueke”.
He also alleged to transferred money outside the country by the aid of the third party”.
However the (DSS) report said that “on December 2010 the police service commission( PSC)found Magu guilty of action prejudicial to state security_ withholding of EFCC files, sabotage unauthorized removal of (EFCC) files and acts unbecoming of a police officer, and awarded him servire reprimand as punishment.
The report also disclosed that Magu has fostered a beneficial relationship with Muhammad by his confession approaches clients for possible exploitation.”
